Telescope Construction Workshop @ Tamilnadu Science and Technology Center
The Telescope Construction Workshop, held at the Tamilnadu Science & Technology Center, Chennai on November 18, 2023, was a resounding success in nurturing young minds towards the wonders of lunar exploration. The event was inaugurated by Mr. Lenin Tamil Kovan, Executive Director of the Tamilnadu Science & Technology Center, Chennai.
Enthusiastic Student Participation
A total of 47 bright and enthusiastic students from various areas across the Greater Corporation of Chennai actively participated in this innovative workshop. The eager students engaged wholeheartedly in constructing their very first moon exploration telescopes, with guidance from a team of experts.
Expert Guidance and Mentorship
Under the expert guidance of Mr. Bharathkumar Velusamy, Co-Founder of Open Space Foundation, along with the invaluable assistance from Mr. Aazhimukilan and Ms. Krithika Krishnan, Scientific Assistants, the students were led through the process of constructing their telescopes. This hands-on learning experience empowered them to delve into the realms of astronomy and explore the mysteries of the cosmos.
Lunar Exploration with Constructed Telescopes
As the day progressed, students eagerly assembled their telescopes and, in the evening, had the remarkable opportunity to observe the moon through the telescopes they had built. This firsthand experience brought the theoretical concepts to life, fostering a deeper connection with lunar exploration.
