Celebrating the Kids with Kanchi Digital Team

Open Space Foundation (OSF) was privileged to be invited as as a special invitee at the "Kuzhandhaigalai Kondadum Thiruvizha" organized by the Kanchi Digital Team at Triveni Academy, Oragaddam, Kanchipuram district. The event, dedicated to celebrating children as the name of the program suggests, celebrates the achievements of the children featured various competitions for students from government schools across the Kanchipuram district over the past month. Competitions spanning drawing, essay writing, speech, monoacting, and more were conducted for students from classes 1 to 8. The program was graced by Prof. Elangovan, former senior scientist, as the chief guest, and Young Scientist Thiru Gokul, SHAR-ISRO scientist, presided over the event.

Special dignitaries such as PMJF of Lion Club Tmt. Bhuvaneshwari, Thiru Poo.ko Saravanan, IRS, Thiru Balaji, Founder of Robotics Foundation of Tamilnadu, and Village Technology School, among others, were present as special invitees. OSF, represented by Ms. Krithika Krishnan, Scientific Assistant, felt privileged to be among such distinguished guests. The program commenced with a formal inauguration followed by cultural performances showcasing the students' talents, including dances and the traditional Tamil martial art of silambattam.

Motivational speeches were delivered by each special invitee, who then took turns honoring the competition winners with prizes. The winners received pink T-shirts and badges from the Kanchi Digital Team, along with shields, medals, and saplings as additional honors. Ms. Krithika from OSF delivered a motivational speech, commending the students for their participation in OSF's Luna Camp 2023 and their innovative contributions during the Luna Innovation Challenge. She also highlighted their role as citizen scientists in the Tamilnadu Asteroid Search campaign 2023.

Following the prize distribution, Chief Guest Prof. Elangovan interacted with the students, shared his journey from a government school in Kanchipuram to becoming a scientist, and reminisced about his experiences with Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam at ISRO. He provided valuable advice for the students to excel and reach greater heights in their lives. The students left the program with a sense of happiness, carrying their prizes and saplings, along with words of motivation, encouragement, and advice from the eminent guests.

Open Space Foundation (OSF) extends its heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Anbazhagan, the Science teacher at Panchayat Union Middle School 1-3 Ward, Uthiramerur, and the coordinator of the Kanchi Digital Team, for the invitation and continuous support of OSF's initiatives. OSF shares the same enthusiasm as the winners who attended the program and truly feels delighted to have been a part of this remarkable day.
